A fine sterling silver picture frame by Sanders
Mackenzie of Birmingham. The exceptional English sterling silver portrait photograph frame hallmarked (S&M - anchor - lion - T) Birmingham 1943. The frame with plain rectangular form fitted with an ebonized oak wood back with hinged strut, secured with two swivel catches.
Sanders
Mackenzie, a renowned British silversmith company founded in 1890 in Birmingham by Ernest Wilfred Sanders and Henry Arthur Mackenzie. They produced a wide range of silverware, such as photo frames, cruet sets, and coffee pots, and were in business until around 1980. Their items are known for fine craftsmanship and can be identified by their maker's mark, "S
M," along with other Birmingham hallmarks.
