Late 19th Century Italian Silver Hallmarked Pill Box
Beautiful and rare silver pill or tobacco pendant.
It features an elegant and exclusive hand-nielloed motif on the upper part.
Practical snap closure on the horizontal side.
From ancient times until the beginning of this century, this type of accessory was collected with great success. The nobility and upper middle class made it a kind of status symbol, hanging it around their necks to use when needed.
It bears various hallmarks indicating the purity of the silver and identifying the master goldsmith who created the beautiful floral motif.
