About the Item
Pair of Lebolt
Co. sterling silver salt and pepper shakers in Arts
Crafts style, beautifully handmade and hand-hammered, adorned with elegant, geometric motifs, from the early 20th century. They measure 2 1/2'' in height by 1 1/2'' in depth, weigh 2.9 troy ounces, and bear hallmarks as shown.
Apart from the Kalo Shop, the other large and long-lived Chicago silversmith was Lebolt
Co. J. Myer Lebolt added a handwrought silversmithing department to his family's Chicago jewelry store in 1912. The Dallas Museum of Art, which holds several Lebolt pieces in its permanent collection, states for one of them that it “ranks among the finest examples of American silver in the Arts
Crafts aesthetic… The geometrically structured bodies reflect Lebolt’s attempt to attract attention in the small but highly competitive market for progressive silver in Chicago.”
