About the Item

Excellent original Viennese Art Nouveau centerpiece around 1900: A wide, round, trumpet-shaped silver pedestal, curved at the bottom, tapering upwards, on four lion's paw feet with feather leaf connections and animal heads, lavish rocaille relief decoration, two large rocaille panels on the front and back, the front panel decorated with the attributes of a fencer: crossed sabre and rapier, glove and fencing mask, as well as the laurel branches adorning the victor, two lateral scallop halves resting on delicate, console-like, towering volutes, on the central round plateau the baluster-shaped container rises on four volutes of a rocaille foot, adorned with lavishly engraved and relief-worked rocaille and laurel decoration, embedded between the towering sculpted rocailles, the domed lid with a fully sculpted figurine, an Amazon wrapped in a loose cloth, with a feather-adorned hat and a fencing glove over her right, raised hand. When the lid is removed, a cylindrical silver vessel can be taken out, the existing bulges on the side of the main container to be filled with crushed ice.
