A fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver soup tureen; an addition to our silver dining collection
This fine antique Edwardian sterling silver soup tureen has a plain oval shaped form onto a plain oval domed spreading foot.
The surface of this piece is embellished with a bright cut engraved crest of on a chapeau turned up a lion rampant supporting an arrow palewise feathered and headed to one side.
This antique silver soup tureen retains the original hallmarked push fit cover, surmounted with the original hallmarked detachable shaped scrolling handle with acanthus leaf decoration.
The antique silver soup tureen is fitted with thread decorated loop handles with acanthus leaf terminals.
Condition
This antique silver soup tureen is an excellent gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition.
This piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body have wear in keeping with age and location, but all remain legible.
The part hallmarks to the cover handle are all clear.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Edwardian silverware.

This exceptional pair of antique Victorian boxed silver fish servers, in sterling standard, consists of a serving knife and fork.
The blade of the knife and the drop of the fork have an incurved shaped form.
The anterior of the knife is embellished with a bright cut engraved band of leaf ornamentation paralleling the shaped side of the blade, accented with a suspended floral festoon and fabric swag designs.
The drop of the fork is ornamented with further bright cut engraved floral festoon designs extending from a wrigglework decorated border to the lower portion of the four tines.
The posterior surface of each shaped blade is plain and embellished with a paralleling scalloped border to the incurved edge.

These magnificent antique George IV English sterling silver meat skewers or letter openers has a plain tapered form.
This exceptional set is comprised of three pairs of meat skewers, each pair graduating in size.
Each skewer is ornamented with the contemporary bright cut engraved crest below a baron's coronet.
The terminal of each skewer is embellished with a chased decorated shell design below a reed decorated circular ring loop finger piece.
Sets of six graduated antique silver skewers are difficult to locate, especially those by the renowned and important London silversmith Paul Storr.

SARAH JONES studied history of medieval art at the University of East Anglia before working for the Greater London Arts Association. In the early 1970's they sent her to interview the ecclesiastical silversmith Michael Murray for their magazine, and he insisted that she make something, a ring, which she sold for £12. This inspired her to take part time training with him before renting a workshop next door in Clerkenwell. Camden Lock Market opened in 1974 and she had a stall there for 8 years, and also exhibited at Goldsmiths' Fair in 1975. This antique chamberstick is fitted with a stylized Trefid pattern handle, embellished with two contemporary bright cut engraved crests of a squirrel sejant eating a nut to the right of an elephant and castle.
The underside of the handle features a decorative rounded socket.
