About the Item

A very fine pair of George III silver sauce boats by William James Priest. Of plain oval form, with raised bead decoration to the rim. A flying C-scrolled handle mounted with and acanthus leaf. Standing on three shell and hoof legs. Engraved with a very ornate monogram MS to the side of each. Very clearly hallmarked for London 1768, makers mark for William James Priest. The hallmarks are well struck and very clear with minimal rubbing (see pictures). This are a wonderful pair of sauce boats in very Fine condition with no repairs only one tiny hole to the raised beaded rim decoration. Of a good gauge and has a wonderful colour and patina and stands true. Measures: Length 16cm or 6.5 inches Width 8cm or 3.25 inches Height (to top of handle) 12cm or 4.75 inches Individual Weights: 223g or 7.12ozT 219g or 7.04ozT Combined Weight: 442g or 14.21ozT (15.6oz).
