Carrying import marks for London in 1927 by Israel Segalov, this wonderful pair of Sterling Silver Knights On Horseback, are handsomely modelled. Each measures roughly 12.25"(31cm) tall, by 12.5"(32cm) wide, by 4.5"(11.5cm) deep, and the pair together weigh 96 troy ounces. The design for the Knights is taken from a relief which can be found at the tomb of Emperor Maximilian I in the 'Hofkirche' of Innsbruck in Germany. The relief shows Emperor Maximilian I at the Battle of the Spurs (also known as the (second) Battle of the Guinegate), and was created by Albrecht Durer. The knights are believed to depict Emperor Maximilian I & King Ferdinand I.
