About the Item

A pair of petite sterling silver urns, each measuring approximately 3 inches tall, finely made and beautifully proportioned. Crafted by Wallace Silversmiths, these charming vessels feature a classic urn form with a flared rim, ribbed lower body, and a stepped circular foot that gives them a confident, architectural stance despite their small scale. The applied side handles add both symmetry and a touch of neoclassical elegance—proof that even the smallest objects once received serious design attention. Stamped “WALLACE STERLING 84”, they date to the early 20th century, when table accessories were made to be both practical and handsome. Their weight and crisp detailing reflect quality craftsmanship, and their size makes them endlessly versatile. What they were (and still are) perfect for: Toothpick holders (their most common and traditional use) Salt cellars or table condiments Open salts with tiny spoons Small floral arrangements or bud vases Match holders or desk accessories Ring or cufflink holders on a vanity Place-card holders for an elegant dinner table Decorative accents grouped on a tray or sideboard These are the kind of objects that quietly elevate a table or desk—useful without trying too hard, decorative without being fussy. In other words, sterling the way it used to be made: sensible, stylish, and built to last longer than trends.
