About the Item
Charming pair of porcelain and pure silver salt and pepper shakers designed and handmade by Emilia Castillo, Mexico, in 1998. Each piece is sculpted in the form of a stylized fish, blending Castillo’s signature combination of organic forms and refined silverwork. The bodies are crafted from smooth porcelain with engraved silver overlay scales, complemented by expressive sculpted fins and eyes.
Both pieces are signed “Emilia Castillo, Plata Pura, MR. Mexico, 98”, marking them as authentic examples of the artist’s studio work from the late 20th century. One piece shows slight loss to the silver around the signature, consistent with age.
