About the Item

An exceptional Antique 19th Century Viennese Enamel Silver Jug with exquisitely detailed enamel detailing covering the exterior of the jug. The lid of the jug features a rare bestial head with gilt teeth on a pink enamel background. The Jug has a gilt collar with applied enamelled detailing mirrored on the figural handle of the jug showing an enamel winged female form. The Body of the Jug shows a pair of oval cartouches on a background of pink enamel. Each cartouche shows an idyllic outdoor scene with classical figures in various poses. The spread foot of the jug has a further two cartouches with images of similar themes. The pink enamel background on the body of the jug is filled with decorative floral, figural and scroll designs. The interior of the Lid and Interior of the foot feature further enamel imagery. Made in Vienna, Austria in c. 1870. Approx. Height -23.3cm Approx. Width - 11.2cm Approx. Depth - 8.3cm This Antique Viennese Enamel Jug has small hallmarks on the base of the foot. The Enamel Jug is in excellent condition. STOCK CODE - ENA01 CONT01 NOV01
