Samuel Kirk Large Silver Water Pitcher circa 1850 with inscribed dedication:
"A Nation's Bounty to Jacob Albert one the patriot Soldiers in the war of 1812. Company Independent Blues 5th Regiment M.M. Act passed Sept 28th 1850. 1st Session 31st Congess."
Height is 13 inches. Marked S.KIRK
SON. 11 OZ. Very good condition.
Between 1815 and 1886, Only COIN silver was produced by the firm. It was illegal to melt US Coins, so the firm imported Foreign coins to melt into wares. French coins with a purity of 11/12 parts silver are marked 11 OZ and are 91.6% silver.
This is a rare collectors item with specific historic significance. It will add historic grace and elegance to the design and accessorizing of your interior. Obviously suitable for classical designed interiors but also a stunning contrast to the modern and contemporary interior landscape.
