Silver 800 German Nicest flower bowl / centerpiece with original excellent glass liner Victorian style (made circa 1900) Silver 800 Hallmarked by Georg Roth / Hanau and Apocryphal Silver Marks: -- Georg Roth Company / Hanauer Silberwaren-Manufaktur (= Hanau Silver Manufactory): founded in 1891 -- pseudo Augsburg Marks Measures: total width: 29.0 cm / 11.41 inches total depth: 13.5 cm / 5.31 inches total height: 25.0 cm / 9.84 inches (measured at handles) Silver weight: circa 970 grams / 34.14 oz / 31.18 troy ounces Specifications: Very interesting silver flower bowl (Jardinière / centerpiece) with gorgeous original glass liner. Referring to style, this flower bowl is influenced by later Victorian period. The silver bowl's bottom is of reticulated type as well as decorated with stylized flower's blossoms. The bowl's outer wall is abundantly covered with chiselled decorations - consisting for example of scrolled ornaments with wine leaves, grapes, masks, fish and reeds = the latters referring to sculptured bowl's handles depicting mermaids. A mermaid is a legendary aquatic creature with the head and upper body of a female human and the tail of a fish. Mermaids appear in the folklore of many cultures worldwide, including the Near East, Europe, Africa and Asia. The first stories appeared in ancient Assyria. Mermaids are sometimes associated with perilous events such as floods, storms, shipwrecks and drownings. In other folk traditions, they can be benevolent or beneficent, bestowing boons or falling in love with humans. The silver bowl stands on oval foot with chiselled floral ornaments on surface, attached to rectangular base having smooth surface. Mentioned base stands on four feet shaped as a lion's paw. Finally, there is an original glass liner existing, decorated with various stunningly cut ornaments (large star pattern at bottom, cut rhomb patterns at top edged area). Condition: excellent (there aren't any damages / any imperfections existing).
