About the Item
A Beautiful Silver Kiddush Goblet and Tray Made for a Child in Germany Circa 1900.
The small size of this Kiddush Goblet and its accompanying tray suggest that this set was made for for use on Shabbat and holidays for a child.
Kiddush Goblet is set on a domed base with a flat rim mounted by a hexagonal knopped stem and compressed knob. Applied hexagonal cup is chased with rocaille ornament scrolling underneath and embellished with chased clusters of grapes, roses, and C-scrolls at the center.
Engraved underneath the extended rim in a small band are the words "Remember the Sabbath Day for it Holiness" in Hebrew along with a chased cluster of grapes.
Accompanying circular tray with a crimped rim is similarly decorated with foliate and grape cluster motifs beautifully chased into the inner roundel with a Star of David and the surrounding rim.
Prominently written in Hebrew on the rim of the tray are the words The commandments (of God) are enlightening for the Eyes" .
Hallmarked at the flat lower rim of the goblet and on the inner rim of the tray.

Important Handmade sterling silver Kiddush goblet by Bezalel School, Jerusalem, circa 1910-1913.
On round base decorated with silver filigree and Cabouchon shaped green agate applications.
The base fitted with Bezalel mark. The upper portion is all adorned with amazing filigree work, the base and the actual cup adorned with swirling filigree designs, in the middle there are 3 roundels, made in another technique of hammered silver, similar to the works that were produced in this time all over Europe, in the middle of each roundel there is a perfectly centered Cabouchon green agate.
This work is attributed to Yehia Yemini.
The goblet is marked on the base, with the earliest silver mark of the school that just say "Bezalel" in Hebrew.
