About the Item

A superb sterling silver period facsimile of the James Beard Memorial Trophy in hallmarked silver on a marble base originally commissioned by an early recipient of this nautical award. Makers mark for Pobjoy Mint, the makers of the actual trophy, and hallmarked London 1983. The trophy is awarded to the world offshore speed record holders in Class 1 power boat racing. James Beard was a renowned and successful power boat designer, manufacturer and racer who sadly passed away in the early 1980s. Dimensions: 38 cm (length) x 27 cm (depth) x 18 cm (height) Bentleys are Members of LAPADA, the London and Provincial Antique Dealers Association.
