About the Item
This incredibly stylish and compact little teak box includes a cutlery set designed by Erik Herlow in 1956 for Norstaal, Norway, and includes 54 pieces of beautiful stainless steel “Inka” range cutlery for six settings. The case, which was designed for easy storage and can be brought to the table, has hinged sides, which fold down to reveal knives and a centre tray. This stylish cutlery set consists of six of each large knives, large forks, small knives, small forks, soup spoons, dessert spoons and teaspoons (42 pieces). There are also 12 additional pieces - almost another two settings.
This flatware is forged from 12-12 stainless steel. The Inka range was resurrected in latter years, but these items were manufactured from 18-10 stainless steel, giving them an altogether heavier feel and darker colour.
Norsk Stalpress was a renowned Norwegian company in Bergen, founded in 1947, famous for producing high-quality, mid-century modern stainless steel cutlery under the brand name Norstaal. The “Inka” range with its simple, clean lines and feel, ensures that it remains one of Norstaal's iconic design classics and is widely collected today. We also have a receipt for this set being purchased in 1975 from Heal’s, London, which will be included with the piece.
