About the Item

An interesting set of 6 stacking beakers and 6 shot glasses, presented in the original leather carrying case, with a leather spacer allowing the smaller shot glasses to stack inside also. The larger 6 beakers all hallmarked London 1861 by John Samuel Hunt. The smaller 6 shot glasses all hallmarked London 1871 by C. F. Hancock Co.. The largest of the beakers measures 4"(10cm) tall, with a diameter of just under 3.5"(9cm). The largest of the shot glasses measures 2.75"(7cm) tall, with a diameter just under 2"(5cm). The box measures 4.75"(12.5cm) tall, by 4"(10cm) in diameter. Engraved with a full coat of arms and motto to the 2 largest beakers. (Order of the Bath shown). Smaller beakers engraved with a simplified family coat of arms. Crests engraved to both sides of the shot glasses, and to the reverse of the beakers. The larger crest is engraved with the motto Amicitia Reddit Honores (Friendship Gives Honour) and would appear to be for the Pringle clan of Scotland. The griffin crest is engraved with the motto Patior, Potior (I suffer, I obtain) and would appear to be for the Peyton family of Ireland.
