Just Andersen (1884–1943) was one of Denmark’s most prominent designers in the first half of the 20th century. He worked primarily in pewter and Disko metal, a material of his own invention, creating a wide range of functional and decorative objects characterized by simplicity and strength of form. These bottle coasters stand out through their motifs inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales – here with iconic figures from The Sandman and The Emperor’s New Clothes – thereby uniting Danish design history with literary heritage.
