About the Item

French Empire salver or oval metal tray decorated with an outstanding border. The tray features painted medallions and edges and has two hand grips. The painted coastal scene depicts what we believe is the religious scene of Saint Paul's conversion. This work of art features a mountainous and seashore line with sailboats, buildings and animals. We see this versatile piece on a cocktail table, ottoman or hung on the wall. The back of the tray has the original black paint and dates circa 1810.
