About the Item
A Very Fine Pair of Chop Tongs Made in London in 1854 by George Adams.
The Tongs are modelled in the fiddle pattern, with wide rectangular grips pierced with scroll work panels. The arched top displays a regimental garter engraved "Dorset" with crown above. The centre of the garter is engraved with the contemporary Crest of Pitt-Rivers. The Tongs are of an exceptional gauge, are very well marked and are in excellent condition.
