An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver cow creamer; an addition to our 19th Century silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver creamer has been realistically modelled in the form of a cow. The plain body of this antique silver creamer is embellished with details reproducing the fine definition of the cow's facial and anatomical features. The jug is fitted with a hinged cover, surmounted with an impressive cast and applied finial realistically modelled in the form of a fly. This impressive Victorian silver cow creamer is fitted with a loop handle, modelled in the form of the cow's tail. The hallmarks to the underside and hind leg of this cow creamer include: Maker's mark: SBL (Samuel Boyce (or Boaz) Landeck) British assay mark: Leopard head (London, England) Silver quality/purity mark: British lion passant mark, 930, Dutch lion rampant mark with 1st standard purity (minimum .934, 934/1000)* Export mark: Key mark intruding lion passant Additional mark: F (foreign manufacture mark) Such antique Dutch sterling silver examples are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. * The country of origin hallmarked this item with the standard mark 930/lion rampant mark and once imported into Britain the silver purity was tested and hallmarks struck reaffirming the silver is a minimum of sterling standard. A magnificent, fine and impressive set of three antique Georgian English sterling silver sugar and tea caddies - boxed; an addition to our silver teaware collection These magnificent, fine and impressive antique Georgian silver sugar and tea caddies each have an oblong shaped form. The surface of each antiquecaddy is embellished with impressive embossed and chased scroll and foliate decoration incorporating a stylised animalistic mask to the upper portion. The decoration to either side incorporates a scene depicting a woman arranging flowers, and the posterior surface bears a structure, all in the chinoiserie style. The anterior surfaces these antique tea caddies incorporate scroll and leaf bordered cartouches, each displaying a contemporary engraved coat of arms. The opposing scrolling lower portion of each caddy composes a shaped rim and foot. These caddies are fitted with the original hinged cast silver covers, ornamented with further foliate and floral decoration and surmounted with impressive floral finials. These Georgian silver tea caddies and sugar canister are fitted to the fine and impressive, original hinged wood and skin covered presentation casket, bearing the original velvet lined interior. The presentation box is fitted with the original silver escutcheon and carrying handle, in addition to four bracket style feet emanating from the corners. These magnificent silver boxes are the finest of their type you could hope to acquire. Condition These antique 18th century tea/sugar caddies are a magnificent gauge of silver, magnificent quality and in magnificent condition. The cast, embossed and chased decoration is very sharp and the engraved ornamentation is very crisp; the definition of these details indicates these caddies have seen little or no use. The original casket is distressed in keeping with age, however, remains in working condition. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the caddies are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the magnificent gauge of silver.
