Wonderful and delicate antique Chinese rose Medallion teapot with lid and matching single teacup and saucer in the traditional medallion design of village scenes, floral and birds. Qing dynasty circa 1850-1890 and in wonderful antique condition. The hand-painting is worn in places but still beautiful as is the gilt touches. There is a very small little chigger chip on the underside of the spout. See photo. Otherwise condition is fabulous. This incredible antique Chinese export Qing Rose Medallion teapot, cup and saucer depict traditional village scenes alternating with panels of bird and floral designs. The teapot lid has two alternating medallions; one figural and one floral with both the cup and saucer depicting typical patterns. All three pieces have unmarked bottoms which date their origin to prior to 1890 and after approximately 1850, since this style of Chinese porcelain was first made in the mid-1800s to satisfy the export demand from Europe and later to the United States. This tea set has an interesting provenance. It was owned by the man who was the Chief Medical Officer at the Panama Canal during the first half of the 20th century where and when this was obtained. I’m told they were friends with and entertained young Ike and Mamie Eisenhower. So possibly Ike was made a cup of tea from this pot and served in this cup and saucer. Whether this happened or not, this antique Chinese porcelain teapot, teacup, and saucer wonderfully beautiful and fine; and, it’s a delightful story! I know you have the perfect spot to display this magnificent treasure. Marvelous 1982 Modern to Postmodern Copco black & white glazed ceramic lidded teapot, 2 white mugs with black stripes, and 2 black mugs with white stripes, designed by Sam Lebowitz. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. We have found no chips, cracks, or chiggers. This is a gorgeous tea set comprised of a glazed ceramic lidded teapot black with white stripes, two white mugs with black stripes, and two black mugs with white stripes. They are stamped by Cosco 1982, Made in Korea on the bases and they are in excellent vintage condition. They will be beautiful on your buffet, bar, kitchen table, or serving tray and although it’s called a teapot, that shouldn’t limit your warm beverage selections… coffee or hot chocolate will pour just as delightfully from the spout!
