About the Item
This antique tea set was made by and unknown maker, but the set and the tray originate from England and date to approximately 1850 and done in the period Victorian style. The four piece tea set is done in sterling silver and the handles and bases are decorated with stylized foliage. Each of the four pieces is clearly hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver. The very elaborate silver plated tray with an oval shape with serpentine sides is also decorated on the surround and surface of the tray with stylized flowers and foliage. The tray likely dates slightly later than the tea set, but is also cearly egraved as 'Made in England". The tea set is in very good period condition showing no significant dents or scratches and has a combined weight of over two kilograms. The tray is also in very good condition showing no wear through of the plating or scratches.
