About the Item
A sweet aesthetic movement antique circa 1880 three piece tea set by Boston maker James W. Tufts. The set is made of silverplate and engraved with decorative Asian motifs including birds. The handles are in the form of bamboo. The overall cubist forms give this tea service such a unique presence. It is small in size with each piece measuring roughly 4.5" square. Each piece is stamped on the bottom with the James W. Tufts maker's mark. The tea service is missing the lid to the sugar and for that reason offered at a reduced price.
Condition commensurate with age and use. Random tiny scratches and tarnishing due to age. Missing the lid to the sugar. Each piece was tested and holds water.
