Mid-20th Century Japanese Satsuma-style Moriage Dragonware Tea Set with Arhats – Original Fitted Case A finely decorated Japanese Satsuma-style tea set, dating to the mid-20th century, presented in its original fitted case. Each piece is enamelled in vibrant polychrome and highlighted with raised moriage slip work and gilt detailing. The design features Arhats (Buddhist disciples) with haloed heads and expressive faces, surrounded by stylised dragons and wave motifs in the traditional export style. The set comprises 15 pieces: Teapot with dragon spout and figural lid Lidded sugar bowl and milk jug Five teacups with matching saucers Two smaller lidded vessels, likely for tea or waste Each piece is signed to the base with a red and gold character mark. The set is housed in its original black faux crocodile presentation case, lined in red silk and blue padded velvet, with fitted compartments for each item. Medium: Earthenware with enamel and gilt overglaze decoration Origin: Japan, circa 1950 Case dimensions: 55 x 32 x 15 cm Condition: Very good overall. No visible chips or cracks. Gilding and enamels are bright and intact. The outer case with some surface wear and age-related scuffing.

Tea service composed of six cups in fine Indochinese porcelain. The celadon-color cups are adorned with floral and bird’s motifs painted inside white-backgrounded cartouches. The handle and the base of each cup are removable and made of silver-plated metal, drilled and engraved with plant motifs. The octagonal saucers are in silver-plated metal and apertured on the wings. The set is accompanied by six spoons in silvered metal engraved and presented in its original box. Indochinese work realized in the 1920's. Dimensions: H 12 x W 40 x D 28 cm. Celadon designates both a color and a type of ceramic specific to China and the Far East. "Celadon Green": it's a color name designating a shade of green.
