About the Item

This exquisite early 19th-century Paris porcelain coffee pot is a refined example of the elegance and creativity associated with the Empire and Restauration periods. Beautifully shaped with a tall, baluster profile, it features a remarkable sculpted spout designed as an animal head—a highly sought-after decorative motif among Parisian manufactories of the era. The pot is richly adorned with hand-painted gilt accents, including laurel garlands around the neck and delicate golden foliage on the spout and handle. Around the body, a charming frieze of blue, bell-shaped flowers adds a vibrant contrast to the pure white porcelain, enhancing the piece with exceptional visual depth. The lid is equally refined, topped with a gilded acorn-shaped finial and decorated with a matching laurel wreath. The interior shows the typical early 19th-century filter shape, confirming its original function as a coffee pot rather than a teapot. Light, age-appropriate signs of wear to the gilding can be seen, entirely consistent with its period and careful use over two centuries. A superb decorative object and a collectible piece of Paris porcelain, combining rarity, charm, and craftsmanship.
