About the Item
A magnificent, exceptional, fine and impressive vintage Italian sterling silver teapot modelled in the form of a camel; an addition to our silver teaware collection.
This magnificent vintage cast Italian sterling silver teapot has been realistically modelled in the form of a seated camel.
The surface of the teapot is embellished with details reproducing the camel's fur coat and anatomical features.
The medial portion of the camel is ornamented with a large bulbous tied sack design.
This Italian silver teapot retains the original plain domed hinged cover surmounted with a plain oval ring-loop style finial.
This fine teapot retains the original handle modelled in the form of a male figure, attired in a turban and tied robe, tying a pack to the camel's hump.
This magnificent teapot has a uniquely curved spout comprised of the camel's collared neck; the pouring lip is produced by the camel's open mouth.
The hallmarks struck to the underside of this teapot includes:
Silver quality/purity mark: 925 (sterling, 925/1000).
Maker's registration: 1763 MI (Untraced, Milano)
Note: This Karawan teapot is a reproduction of a glazed and gilded earthenware teapot made by Moore Bros.; an example of this can be found in the famous Victoria and Albert Museum of Practical Geology. This teapot bears poetic Oriental influence from nature and the desert; the Orient recreated by the Romantics incorporated enchanting and adventurous fantasy symbolism. This teapot proffers the promised moment of rest rewarded by hot tea after enduring the hostile and sun-filled jouneys taken.
Condition
This vintage silver teapot is a magnificent gauge of silver, magnificent quality and in magnificent condition.
The interior of the teapot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.
The Italian hallmarks struck to the underside of the base are very clear.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of vintage teaware.
