Round bowl with dual domed lid, with cherub en miniature attached to top piece / further, a garland of flower's blossoms with leaves is laid on lid of bowl. Made circa 1912 Modelled by Bertold Löffler (1874-1960) Hallmarked: Manufactured by Wiener Keramik (wk / hallmarked) Signs of painter existing. Model number 316 Material is ceramics (glossy finish / painted). Made circa 1912 Total height: 11 cm (circa 4.4 inches) Bibliography: Waltraud Neuwirth, Markenlexikon Für Kunstgewerbe (3), Wiener Keramik / modelle 1906-13; page 230 Bertold (Berthold) Löffler (born 1874 / bohemia - died 1960 / vienna) was an important austrian painter, designer and graphic artist. Löffler, deriving from wealthy family, studied at viennese school of applied arts (he was pupil of Franz Matsch and Koloman Moser) / as from the year 1900 he was active as independent artist. - Löffler founded in the year 1902 - together with Michael Powolny - the manufactory 'Wiener Keramik'. in period as from 1909 until 1935 Löffler was professor at Viennese school of applied arts where he taught Oskar Kokoschka. As we have mentioned already, Löffler worked as important designer of ceramics / he was active on behalf of Josef Hoffmann and the Wiener Werkstaette - for example at famous sanatorium of Purkersdorf near Vienna as well as at Palais Stoclet in Brussels.
