A gorgeous 19th century white ironstone tureen from France, complete with the original fitted lid to the oval form, this is a classic serving piece for any kitchen. The charming design incorporates an artichoke finial with delicate leaf transitioning into the dome of the lid. This foliate motif is repeated in the handles whose decorative, Neoclassical flourishes complement the heft of the weighty vessel. The milk-white finish is mostly clear with only a few freckles concentrated to the interior; apart from a few “flea bites” (to be expected with age and use) there are no apparent chips, cracks, or crazing in the ceramic.
