About the Item

Indulge in the splendor of this magnificent solid silver champagne bucket, crafted with exquisite silversmithing skill. Reflecting the style of Meissonnier, this masterpiece hails from Germany, likely Hanau, circa 1880. Resting gracefully on a pedestal, it boasts intricate detailing featuring the regal emblems of France. Marvel at the enchanting scenes portraying Apollo and Neptune, while the handles, elegantly shaped as mermaids, embrace two majestic dolphins. This silver champagne cooler is a tribute to the timeless elegance of the 18th century, inspired by the visionary French architect, designer, and silversmith, Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier. Originally commissioned in 1723 for Louis-Henri de Bourbon, Prince de Condé, Prime Minister during Louis XV French King (reign from 1723 to 1726). Its design exudes sophistication and historical significance, making it a coveted addition to any discerning collector's ensemble. Engraving of Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier, painter, sculptor, architect, and draftsman of the King's chamber and cabinet. Champagne bucket made for Mr. le Duc, p. 57 in Œuvres de Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier, 1748.
