French sterling silver and cut-glass one claret jug. Rococo styling spiral cut body. Measure: weight 930 gr Napoléon III silver and crystal wine decanter or Claret Jugantique French hallmarked sterling silver and cut glassornate with Rococo style base scrolling handle, floral accented collar and that stunning spiral fluted glass or crystal body, !All of the separate silver parts bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they are in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). Rocaille encircling the silver base, the handle in the form of sinuous scrolls! The body is crystal with a spiral extending from the bottom of the neck to the sterling footed base. Each aiguière may contain one bottle of wine 75 cl. ? Poinçon Minerve 1er Titre ? ? poinçons d'orfèvre VICTOR BOIVIN ? Poids brut : 938 g. Dimensions : Hauteur 29 cm. Diamètre de la base 10,5 cm. FIN XIXème Siecle. L’orfèvre Victor Boivin reprit l’atelier de son père, l’orfèvre Jules Boivin (actif de 1862 à 1881). Victor est aussi le frère du célèbre joailler René Boivin et le beau-frère de Jeanne Poiret, la sœur du couturier Paul Poiret. René Boivin fit son apprentissage comme orfèvre et ciseleur chez son frère Victor avant de créer sa propre entreprise et de devenir un des plus grands joaillers de son époque. Victor Boivin s'installe en 1897 dans le très élégant et historique Hôtel de Montmorency au 5 rue de Montmorency dans le Marais, le quartier des orfèvres. L’Hôtel de Montmorency propriété d’une des plus grandes familles aristocratiques, les Montmorency, fut occupé au début du règne de Louis XIV par le fameux Surintendant des Finances Nicolas Fouquet. Sa maison d’orfèvrerie est reprise par Ravinet d'Enfert au début du XXème siècle. Son poinçon d'orfèvre : dans un losange, initiales VB encadrée de 2 étoiles. L'étoile supérieure est surmontée d'un croissant renversé.
