The Netherlands East Indies Railway Company (NIS) was a railway company in the former Dutch East Indies. The company was founded on August 27, 1863, having obtained a concession the previous year for the Semarang–Yogyakarta route. Over the years, the lines were further expanded. The company was dissolved in 1940.
