About the Item
This exceptional and large limestone Ushabti is beautifully mounted on a custom wooden stand featuring an arched backdrop to frame the figure. Wearing a tripartite wig, the face is round with almond-shaped eyes, and the ears are finely detailed. His arms cross at the chest, and he holds a seed bag in each hand, with a narrow hoe in the right and a broad-bladed hoe in the left. Four horizontal lines of hieroglyphic text remain from Chapter 6 of the Book of Dead. Although broken just above the knee, the expertly crafted wooden stand allows us to view the full figure as it would have stood n it's entirety. And while some bases may detract from the artwork displayed, the gently arching integral frame behind our statue provides a distinctive counterpoint to the bright limestone silhouette and only adds to the splendid overall composition.
