About the Item

A beautifully preserved example, this superb sandstone head depicts an official wearing a smooth shoulder-length headcloth, over large naturalistic ears and fleshy, round face. The face features elongated eyes executed with extended cosmetic lines, incised eyebrows, a wide nose, and full lips. Rich and varied pigment is preserved throughout, including red-brown for the flesh, black and white for the eyes and brows, and blue for the headcloth.
