Over 100 years old Primitive Antique Norwegian Dragon Style Carved Hanging Cabinet, 1907
Description:
This rare and professionally carved hanging cabinet is a stellar example of Scandinavian Arts
Crafts folk art, embodying the fierce mythological spirit of the Dragon Style. Hand-crafted in 1907, the entire facade is a masterwork of rich, deep carving, transforming a functional object into a piece of sculptural wall decor.
Constructed from pine and beech with a birch door, the cabinet retains its original lock and key and features a highly practical interior with adjustable shelves. It is authentically signed and dated with deeply carved initials "K.W." and the year "1907."
The piece remains in very good, original condition, possessing a beautiful patina and minor, age-consistent wear that attest to its history. A few tiny losses to the high-points of the carving are noted, adding to its authentic character. Some thin nature wood cracks consistent with its age.
A versatile RARE FIND, perfect as a statement-making medicine cabinet, kitchen cupboard, or display case for Nordic antiques.
