An Egyptian Authentic and rarely pointy Egyptian stone vessel made of carefully chosen precious serpentine, early pre-dynastic period (before 2950 BC till begin 3rd dynasty (2650BC). In antiquity the unlidded pot contained probably an ointment or salve for cosmetic or pharmaceutical purpose. The shape of the vessel is rare and so far we know connected to the fine serpentine and alabaster pots found in burial places of Kings in the Red Sea District. The ointment vessel made of mottled light and dark green, black and white serpentine. For it's age the container is in a very good condition besides some recent, local, polishing. Lit.Published and described, illustrated by Hendrickx, "Une importante collection de Vases Egyptiens en pierre," Bulletin of Royal Museum for Art and History, Brussel, 1990.
