About the Item
Alfonso Castillo Orta was born into a family that worked with clay for generations before him. His grandfather, an expert potter, inspired Alfonso Castillo, at an early age, to follow in the family tradition. In 1995, the work of Alfonso Castillo was published in “The Great Masters of Mexican Folk Art”. His career as a famed Mexican ceramicist spanned almost a half century before he died in 2009.
