Fine Chinese Antique Rosewood Box with Brass Mounts – Qing Dynasty décor
Located in London, GB
Fine Chinese Antique Rosewood Box with Brass Mounts – Qing Dynasty Style
A beautifully crafted Chinese antique rosewood box, richly mounted with engraved brass fittings in traditional Qing dynasty style. The dark, dense rosewood contrasts elegantly with the finely detailed brass corner plates, cloud-form panels, Buddhist motives and ornate turtle central latch.
This high-quality scholar’s or jewellery box features hand-engraved decoration throughout, including geometric fret motifs and stylised foliate designs characteristic of late Qing decorative metalwork. The box retains its original lock plate with turtle (key not present).
A decorative and functional piece ideal for collectors of Chinese antiques, scholar’s objects, and classical Asian furniture.

La Tolita-Tumaco Standing Female Figure
Located in Chicago, IL
This standing effigy was crafted in 500 A.D. - 1000 A.D. Mesoamerica using the gray clay paste that characterizes La Tolita-Tumaco ceramics of early Colombia-Ecuador. The art of La Tolita-Tumaco civilization is considered one of the most developed of the pre-Columbian period as metalwork and ceramics were the most popular form of cultural expression. The ceramic creations of this culture were often based on the human figure to create portraits of people and realistic daily scenes of life cycles and the human condition.
This figure appears to be wearing a loincloth and is adorned with a beaded necklace and an elaborate coiffure or headdress. There are holes lining each ear indicating the potential use of ear spools...

18th-Century English Pottery Hearty Good Fellow Toby Jug
Located in Downingtown, PA
"The Hearty Good Fellow": Rare Standing Pearlware Toby Jug
(Staffordshire, c. 1800)
A charismatic and vibrant English pearlware "Toby" jug, modeled in the scarce form known to collectors as the "Hearty Good Fellow." Dating to circa 1800, this piece represents a delightful departure from the standard seated Toby jug, depicting the figure in a standing, convivial pose.
The figure is modeled with a distinct sense of movement, his head turned slightly to the left. He is dressed in the height of Georgian tavern fashion: a deep cobalt blue jacket, a bright orange waistcoat, and vivid yellow breeches. Under his right arm, he supports a large white ale jug, while his left hand holds a pipe across his chest.
Reverse & Construction: The reverse reveals a robust rustic branch handle that extends downward into a molded tree-stump support. This integral support was a clever potter's device to stabilize the standing figure during firing. Both the handle and the rocky base are left in plain white pearlware—an unusual variation (as most examples feature green or brown painted bases)—which highlights the crispness of the molding.
Condition: Good antique condition. Typical minor flaking to the glaze on the rim of the tricorn hat...
