About the Item
Very rare "Punch" figural item of the infamous "Punch and Judy" duo created in Italy but made more famous and popularized in British Victorian 19th century culture, "puppetry" appealing to children AND adults. This is a must have for collectors of Punch and Judy memorabelia; I have never seen it before. It has the typical Punch figure facial expressions along with the front pointed brimmed hat, ruffled collar, fine hair strands, and the proverbial bent hooked nose. It also features a handle to the rear to hold for pouring; it is all hand painted in a bone white color. The creamer is in completely all original very good condition with no repairs or restoration of any kind, and no cracks, albeit there is a very slight chip at the top rear at his cap.
Provenance: From my own collection having been acquired from a San Diego collector in 1985.
Dimensions:
2 1/4" high x 2 3/4" deep by 1 3/4" wide

View All"Toby" Jug Still Bank and Biscuit Tin, circa 1910
Located in Incline Village, NV
This is both a still bank and a biscuit tin. It would originally have been sold, filled with biscuits. After all of the cookies would have been consumed, the tin (rather than been thrown away) would have been used as a bank to save money. There is a slot for deposits at the back of the neck at the top (see image). Coins would have been removed by lifting or twisting the snug fitting lid. Toby is nicely hand-painted in pleasing colors of green, blue, gold, and white, with realistic flesh tones to the hands and face. The total height is 6 1/2" while the total width is 6" (includes handle). Diameter at the base is 5".
This Toby figured tin was manufactured circa 1911 by the biscuit tin company of Hudson Scott located in Carlisle, England.
It is marked at the bottom "Hudson Scott & Sons Ltd. Carlisle, England."
It has crossover appeal into three categories of collectors. It would be a welcome addition to both the still bank collector and the biscuit tin collector...

Victorian Porcelain Spittoon, circa 1880 by Imari, Japan
Located in Incline Village, NV
The mark on the underneath (see image) indicates that this spittoon is of Japanese Imari porcelain, manufactured circa 1880, and made specifically for the American market for the preponderance of bars and saloons at that time.
These were popular from 1865 to the turn of the century; this is a particularly fancy and elaborate example. Note the copious and highly detailed and beautiful floral decoration to the inside of the upper portion of the spittoon; pretty fancy for something meant for spit and saliva!
Fantastic and all original condition with no cracks, no chips and very bright paint in sharp colors of blue rust and pink, and meticulously painted in a floral pattern. Several of these would have been “stationed” in strategic places within a saloon. This is a wonderful piece of porcelain, and quality item of saloon and Western United States history...
