About the Item

Charming set of four hand-painted earthenware plates by Vital Janeiro, made in São Pedro do Corval, one of Portugal’s most renowned pottery villages. Each plate depicts a colorful rural scene — a grape picker, a farmer, a horseman, and Alentejo landscapes — in the expressive and naïve style typical of Portuguese folk art. The vivid palette and bold outlines give each piece a warm and authentic presence. The terracotta rims and glossy glaze are characteristic of Portuguese artisanal ceramics from the mid-20th century. Displayed together on a wall, these plates create a beautiful and characterful wall composition, celebrating rural life and southern Portugal’s cultural heritage. 2 plates: D: 20 cm, H: 3 cm 2 plates: D: 16 cm, H 3 cm
