About the Item

This is an extraordinarily beautiful 15 inch square antique hinged, hand incised and hand painted wooden Folk Art game board. The playing surface possesses great detail with images of chess pieces , ornate nouveau floral borders hand painted in a deep red color. The reverse is signed with painted tulips above a pair of contemplative checker players, and the word "checkers" above five round checker pieces. Finally, opposite is finely hand burned a photo of "America's Champion , C.F. Barker and within the lower burned board "Ralph to Aaron" , -1905- . Dimensions: 15 inches square x 1/4 inch in depth. Hand made, hand carved, hand painted, and hand burned using pyrographic techniques Provenance: Old New England collection.
