About the Item
This is a very rare example of a mid 19th century Amish childs toy figure. Carved delicately from a lighter weight wood and has been cared for lovingly for the past two centuries . The figure looks to have the features of an American Mid West farmer ,possibly Amish .
Carved for a very wealthy child the figure would have had a covering of paint but this has worn off with handling and developed a a rich dark honey patina.
The arms are articulated and the figure sits on a rotating stand. Traces of black pigment are still visible around the beard and hair.
Beautiful condition for a mid 19th century piece. Very collectable as well as Decorative.
