About the Item

A wonderful geometric patterned and designed hand painted and glazed Native American large earthenware jar/vase/pot made by the Shipibo-Conibo people, an indigenous people along the Ucayali River in the Amazon rainforest in Peru. They are known for their rich culture, spiritual traditions, and distinctive art and pottery. This work is very similiar to the one at Metropolitan Art Museum (The Met) in New York City and others at the National Museum of the American Indian, Washington, DC. A beautiful piece. Shipibo people have created some of the most sought-after folk art designs in the world with their pottery. Would be a great addition to any Native American or tribal art collection or make for an eye catching stand alone accent work in about any setting. Approximate dimensions: 12" high, 15" diameter.
