1950s wooden scale model of a two-masted auric schooner with cotton sails with yacht or racing schooner characteristics of the late 19th-early 20th century. Bon état. Measures 93 x 18 x 92 cm - 36.6 x 7.1 x 36.2 in
Long, tapered hull with slim, sleek bow and relatively low, clean stern, elegant and powerful sail plan typical of boats designed to be fast rather than workboats. The auric sails are trimmed evenly, indicating a yacht rather than a fishing schooner setting. This is a boat designed for sport or advanced pleasure sailing; the hull, painted black with clear opus viva and wooden deck, traces the style of American and British yachts between 1880 and 1920, such as those designed by Herreshoff or Fife, known for clean, fast lines; the combination of elements thus indicates an auric schooner for racing or cruising.
