About the Item
An extraordinary antique pine bridal cabinet dating from around 1825. This cabinet is simply designed but beautifully painted in rustic colors and features a tree of life on the door panel. Considering its age, this piece is still in good condition, though there are naturally some minor signs of wear. These include sporadic old woodworm marks, which have of course been checked and treated, and the cabinet also exhibits a few old repairs. All in all, a very characteristic piece. The interior of the cabinet consists of shelves and a modern rod. The cabinet still has its original working lock with key. It was customary in the past to give bridal furniture like this to the couple at a wedding. These pieces were later placed in a state room on the farm, which was only rarely used for distinguished guests or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. This example originates from southern Germany.
