About the Item
Antique bridal cabinet dating from around 1820-1840, from Franconia, southern Germany. Its weathered character and original paintings give it a stunning appearance. Both the design of the cabinet and the painting are simple and primitive, yet authentic and a typical example of folk art from the region. The panels depict flower heads with acanthus leaves, while the rest of the furniture is decorated with striped and dotted motifs in pink and blue tones.
The cabinet has been completely inspected and professionally restored, with an eye for originality and character. The construction is solid, the painting is worn but preserved, and the patina has been retained. The cabinet is divided into four height-adjustable shelves. Parts of the crest have been expertly restored. The door can be locked with a simple hook. Old, sporadically present woodworm spores have been checked and treated.
Wedding cabinets like this are rarely encountered. The age, patina, and painted finish of this cabinet make it an exclusive piece of furniture.
