About the Item
An extraordinary antique pine bridal cabinet dating from 1868. This cabinet is simply designed but beautifully painted in green with floral decorations on the panels. The wedding date and the names of the previous owner are also painted on the crest. Considering its age, this example is still in good condition, although there are naturally some minor signs of wear. These include sporadic old woodworm marks, which have of course been checked and treated, and the paint is also somewhat worn in places. All in all, a very characteristic piece. The interior of the cabinet consists of a set of small shelves, coat hooks, and a modern rod. The cabinet still has its original working lock and key. It was customary in the past to give bridal furniture like this to the couple at a wedding. These pieces were later placed in a state room on the farm, which was only rarely used for distinguished guests or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. This example originates from southern Germany. The cabinet can be transported in two parts.
