About the Item
Folk Art Pine Chest in the Original Paint. This chest is an amazing survivor, from the late 1600s, in practically untouched original condition. The chest with side hung drawers even retains its original brasswork. The chest is painted to simulate Walnut, the timber of choice for top cabinetmakers and their clients the upper classes and the Aristocracy.
In simple country areas Pine would be painted to copy Walnut, where the real thing could not be afforded. The carving is all original and again retain their original paint.
Very solid condition, ready to go straight into the home and last another 300 years.
