About the Item

19th Century Dutch Folk art Painting of a Bear Trainer A naïve example of a mid-19th Century Dutch painting on paper. Depicting a bear being trained by a man to entertain passersby. Dimensions in inches: H 19” x W 16” x D 1.5” Age: 19th Century Origin: Dutch Condition: Fair This item shows natural wear and aging as we have tried to show, especially to the paper which at one point has always been folded therefore the creases are still present even once framed as shown. The paper is also stained in areas as shown with aged discolouring and fading. The frame is original to the painting and never been removed, this also is aged at the reverse and faded gold paint with scratches is present also.
