Set in a beautiful gilded frame, this artwork shows an early depiction of mountain climbing in the French Alps.
Signed by artist on lower left corner.
Frederik Hendrik Kaemmerer (1939-1902) was a Dutch painter born in The Hague. He originally worked in the Romantic and Academic styles, but later after moving to Paris, he became an Impressionist. His works are exhibited in museums throughout France and the Netherlands, as well as in Munich and the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
