Vintage pair (2) Folk Art or Outsider Art Portraits of Native Americans. The female displays braided hair and a necklace with pendant of possible an acorn or shell; the male with a feather extending from his hair and with a neckace and breast plate. These are original detailed hand incised works of art on reclaimed oak boards. These unique works of art are hand incised using pyrographic techniques. Signed : JP Macett Dimensions: 11 inches high and 7.75 inches wide. Provenance: Old New England collection. History of the Pyrography: py·rog·ra·phy is the art or technique of decorating wood or leather by burning a design on the surface with a heated metallic point. Pyrography was particular popular during the last quarter of the 19th century and first quarter of the 20th century We will be offering more important quality American Folk Art and Outsider Art Pyrographic works of art in the near future.
